Blind Site: A Mind-Bending Thriller
Blind Site: A Mind-Bending Thriller
Wow! Can I say it again, this time with a bit more "oomf!"? WOW! Ok, I'm good, now on the review..This was my second trip with Andrew Van Wey, the first being BY THE LIGHT OF DEAD STARS. BTLODS was just amazing, nothing in it that could be considered a flaw or a strike against the book as a whole; same goes for BLIND SITE! Despite it being written two years prior, this book was fire I tell ya, FIRE!More than one time I had to remind myself that I was reading a book and not watching it, it was THAT good! The read-through was like experiencing a great movie, with cool visuals and characters that stood out, as did the overall plot! The characters all felt real, never really giving me the feeling that "Hey, good characters, but they felt, I dunno, fake, non-relatable". I even found myself feeling anger at some of characters (no spoilers, promise!), due their motivations and decisions/actions made! The science in BLIND SITE, while based in fiction, felt like something that could happen in the not-too-distant future! I could totally see the C.I.A. getting behind something like Project Clearwater!I will agree with the book's description! It have an X-FILES vibe, with some RED DRAGON (in my case, it reminded me of the HANNIBAL television series) thrown in for that extra flavor! This, good people (do bad people even read reviews?), is how you write a book that will leave you both satisfied and wanting more! I can't wait to read the other two books in the series! I hope you will, too!Peace.
Review of digital ARCA flicker. A shimmer. A floating figure.Another person, dead. Torn apart . . . from the inside. It happens again. And again. The media dubs it the God’s Breath Killer. How is it that a young, blind woman may be the only salvation from this unseen evil?Readers will find themselves pulled into the telling of the tale from the outset. And what a tale it is! An invisible killer with a ghastly agenda, a non-existent organization, and non-stop action. Agent Michaels, Caitlyn Grey, and FBI Agent Denise Carruthers stand against an onslaught of evil that, despite their best efforts, continues to claim its victims.Believable characters and an impressively awesome plot keep the pages turning as the unfolding narrative springs a plethora of surprises that keep the reader a bit off-balance and, at the same time, seem to make the covertly-conducted mind control experiments seem truly real.Despite the gritty, gruesome scenes throughout the narrative, readers will find it difficult to set this book aside before turning the final page. And, although a few questions remain unanswered, the denouement is likely to bring a smile or two.Until . . . . .Highly recommended.
This reminds me of when I first discovered Stephen King books. Great story! I recommend it highly. Brings to mind The stand
There are things the average human will never understand and even more that can never be explained. Generally, it's not required of us to understand or comprehend these unknowns. We go our way willingly oblivious to organizations, institutions, and individuals that live in the shadows. When unexplainable events do happen it may be too late. 'Blind Site' will have you questioning whether the old axiom of 'seeing is believing' still holds. This is an excellent thriller that will keep you second-guessing everything. The Audible book by Tom Jordan is wonderful.
I had originally read Forsaken by Andrew Van Wey (which I also highly recommend) and was impressed so I picked up Blind Site and am extremely happy I did. Story has a great pace, characters are well developed and held my interest throughout. Looking forward to starting Refraction!!!!!
