So, This Has Been Happening Lately…

Probably a fluke/glitch in the Matrix, or a very, very mean joke by the computers at Amazon, but still…

I’m sure it’s totally fleeting and the result of some terrible flaw in the algorithms and/or Dark Magic and Comic Sans, but I won’t deny… it’s pretty awesome seeing FORSAKEN up there next to what I consider to be one of the best horror novels ever written, let alone one of the inspirations that lit the torch of terror beneath my butt all those years ago.

Thank you, everyone, who’ve bought, previewed, reviewed, borrowed, pirated, or even put down this silly little book of mine.  I’ll keep writing them if you’ll keep reading them.

  1. Hey Andrew,

Congrats! It’s a wonderful feeling, isn’t it? I’ve followed Forsaken’s slow climb and I think it’s well deserved. Now that you’re rubbing shoulders with SK, I’d be interested to know how your sales have increased since November (I believe) when you sold 20-30 copies.

    Best,
    Griffin Hayes

      Hi Griffin!

Thank you so much for the kind words! I’ll release full sales figures when Amazon discloses them next month (around the 15th I believe), but for now I’m generally selling between 25-30 copies a day (104 in the last 72 hours). While it would be wonderful if this is, indeed, a permanent place for FORSAKEN among the sales ranks, I’m not holding my breath. The laws of gravity must also apply to eBooks…I think. My best guess is that this is a post Kindle Select promotion (I went free for 48 hours), combined with the massive post-holiday user base of new Kindle owners, and just some good old fashioned luck.

Regardless, to me it highlights two things: The power of free lemonade leading to a jump in sales for plastic cups, and the fact that I really need to rewrite faster. I would have preferred to have my next two novels in final form by this time. I’ve gotten a few emails asking what else I’ve got and the awkward response has always been: “Lots of stuff! Some just happens to be closer to readable than others.”

      All the best to you!

      -D.

Andrew, you completely deserve this. Forsaken was one of the best books I’ve read in a long time (just finished yesterday after coming across it on Amazon a few days ago). I’m really looking forward to more great stories from you. So, to finish this up, I can’t wait to read whatever comes next!

      Jamielyn,

Thank you, truly, for the very kind words. I always love hearing from readers, even if they hated it (although I admit, the compliments sustain me far longer than the complaints), and it’s words like yours that make writing so much fun! That, and spending lots of time going to very dark places in search of a few frights.

      Glad you enjoyed the book!

      Cheers!

      -D.

Just finished the book, and realized it does make me feel the same way that SK’s book did/do. Kind of queasy while reading them which a good thing for horror stories. Great twists and turns to the story, couldn’t figure it out and I love that. Get busy and get more books out here….love your work.

Wow!!! Not only can I not wait for your next book, but I’m thinking you need to try for a movie version of this one. Talk about sensory imagery… I’d like to use excerpts from Forsaken to teach that element in my high school English class, with your permission of course. You have a fan for life!!!
